Phat Joe muted by SABC over homophobic comment

Majota Khambule, better known as Phat Joe, is in hot water again over a comment made during his radio broadcast.

The radio and TV personality who presents the breakfast show Phat Joe and the Family on Radio 2000 did not appear on air on Thursday after making homophobic comments during his Wednesday show.

During his previous broadcast he was commenting on the gay community and how he was disgusted when a gay flirted with him.

Among other comments, he said that gays are flamboyant like women and that it disgusted him.

There was no explanation as to why David Mashabela stood in for him during his Thursday show and SABC spokesperson, Vuyo Mthembu did not confirm if Joe was suspended or if he will be held accountable for his comments.

Phat Joe has caused controversy in the past and been fired for his comments.

East Coast Radio denied the reason Joe left them two years ago was due to comments he made but the public made a huge outcry following his comments regarding Down Syndrome.

During his time with Heart 104.9FM he had to apologise for allegedly calling a Cape Times reporter a cockroach.
