Adam Catzavelos made a brief appearance in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday where the case was postponed to August 29.
Catzavelos was charged with crimen injuria following a vacation video he posted on social media where he used the k-word while claiming how happy he was that the beach in Greece were absent of black people.
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) filed a complaint with the SA Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) after seeing the video online.
Catzavelos has been deeply apologetic and shown remorse since the incident in August 2018, which could work in his favour.
Catzavelos lawyer, Lawley Shain said that he had been served summons in June by Greek authorities as they have a very strict law regarding racist matters.
He missed a Greece court date as it fell at the same time as South Africa’s general elections and no further date has been given.
