Eskom vows to abandon Diepsloot until attacks on technicians stop

Following the threatens on Eskom technicians, the power utility has said they will not be attending to faults in the Diepsloot area, north of Johannesburg.

The technicians were threatened with violence and chased out of the area while busy with daily operations.

The electricity company said in an announcement on Wednesday that they will not resume work until the area is safe to do so.

The biggest concerns are that residents will be left in darkness for an unjustifiable period without any assistance from Eskom.

Eskom will not be attending to any faults in Diepsloot and the incident has been reported to the police.
