Ladysmith teacher stabbed to death over courtesy car

The family of a Ladysmith teacher have been left devastated after he was repeatedly stabbed and left for death at his home in Ekuvukeni on Friday.

Mkhumbuzeni Isaac Mbongwa, who was an educator at Emabhekazi Combined School, visited his devistated mother and family for a few earlier that day, completely unaware that it would be the last time he would be alive.

SowetanLIVE reported that two men, aged 19 and 22 had been arrested and confessed to stabbing the ‘humble’ teacher several times and leaving him to die.

Mbongwa’s sister, Jabulile Mbongwa-Molefe was called to the scene shortly after the arrest and was advised that the men had killed her brother for his car.

The two suspects drove the car just outside the area where they were it was recovered, and the men arrested on Saturday.

The vehicle which was stolen was a courtesy car as Mbongwa was involved in an accident last month and his own vehicle had gone for repairs.

The suspects appeared in court on Monday and the case was postponed to July 9 where they are expected to file their bail application.
