Makhura is willing to pledge Gauteng coffers to scrap e-Tolls

Speaking at his first State of the Province Address (Sopa) Gauteng Premier David Makhura committed to the scrapping of the e-toll system.

The Citizen reported that Makhura said he is determined to ensure the final resolution is signed and tolling system is no longer part of the provinces future.

Makhura also stated that he is willing to pledge month from the Gauteng government to help finalise the matter.

He said that urban tolling cannot work due to the costs it incurs for the public. He is confident that transport minister Fikile Mbalula will act on the matter and transport MEC Jacob Mamabolo will work with national government to follow through.

The premier stressed that e-Tolls are on his agenda and he will be discussing the matter with President Cyril Ramaphosa to have the matter resolved.
