Six prisoners who escaped Pudimoe police station holding cells earlier this month have been rearrested by Vryburg police officers.
The prisoners who escaped through the roof of their holding cells on June 14 have all been apprehended.
Oageng Senye,24 was caught later on the same day while Mosimanegape Mohutsana, 20 was arrested the following day, June 15. Lawrence Ntwagae, 28 was apprehended on June 16.
Sipho Mohutsiwa, 24 and Tumelo Setlhodi, 37 were arrested during last week.
Officers received a tip-off that that the last escapee was hiding in Colridge, Vryburg and Hendick Pampier, 36 was arrested on June 20.
SAPS spokesperson Capt Sam Tselanyane praised the provincial commissioner of North West, Lt-Gen Baile Motswenyane, Pudimoe detective WO Peter Mooketsi, Vryburg crime prevention and Vryburg crime intelligence for their effective collaborated efforts and dedication in capturing the escapees.
All six are awaiting trial for various crimes and will appear in the Taung Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges relating to the escaping from custody.
