Ramaphosa plans to offer more aid to Eskom

Ahead of Thursday’s State of the Nation Address (Sona), president Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that more efforts are planned to aid Eskom in reaching financial and operational stability.

Ramaphosa met with the Eskom board, ministers of finance, mineral resources, energy and public enterprises in Cape Town on Tuesday to negotiate a recovery plan to stabilise the energy supplier.

Eskom implemented a winter plan on June 1 which has ensured the grid is stable and South Africa is at low risk of load-shedding.

A nine point plan was implemented by Eskom which focuses on certain priorities and will ensure that the country does not experience any blackouts.

Eskom is critical to the growth and development of the country as it is the continent’s larges power producer and for this reason Ramaphosa is focusing his efforts on assisting the company to gain stability.
