A fifth homeless person, in three weeks, has been found murdered on the streets of Pretoria on Wednesday.
The man’s body was found about 400 metres from the main Unisa campus in Muckleneuk.
Provincial police spokesperson Brig Mathapelo Peters confirmed with TimesLIVE that all five victims were male, middle-aged, homeless and were murdered during the night.
Gauteng commissioner of police, Lieutenant-General Elias Mawela said they do not want to cause panic and alarm regarding the serial killer but do appeal to the public to be vigilant at night.
A high-level task team consisting of forensic experts such at pathologists, criminal psychologists, crime intelligence and detectives are investigating the mystery and will ensure the perpetrator/s are apprehended.
The first three victims were stabbed and beaten while the fourth was found bludgeoned at the back of the head.
