Joburg car dealership owner arrested for selling stolen cars

A car dealership owner in Bosmont, Johannesburg was arrested on the weekend following a tip-off regarding the sale of stolen vehicles.

Police received a report that the dealership had placed false licence discs on cars and sold them to unsuspecting buyers.

Seven stolen vehicles were recovered, being two Nissan NP200 bakkies, two Mercedes Benz sedans, a Ford Fiesta, Toyota Etios and a VW Polo, when the Flying Squad, Johannesburg Metro Police and vehicle tracking company swarmed on the business.

The vehicles were said to have been stolen in Mondeor, Moffat View, Johannesburg CBD, Pretoria West, Akasia and Brooklyn in Pretoria.

The dealership owner is expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
