The Natal Sharks Board confirmed on Thursday that large shoals of sardines have been spotted on their way to KwaZulu-Natal.
The boards’ Greg Thompson said their had been activity between the Nqabara River Mouth and the Dwesa Marine Reserve and late on Wednesday they believe there were sightings in the Rame Heads area, about 26 kilometres south of Port St Johns.
They are hoping to see more activity further north after the cold front passes later on Thursday evening.
There is the possibility that the sardines could spotted further up the coast as the current sightings have all been inshore areas and some might swim up the coast in deeper water. This makes them very unpredictable.
