Public Protector concerned over alleged leaked report

Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane has expressed concern regarding an article run by a newspaper regarding a leaked report regarding the investigation of the R500,000 donation president Cyril Ramaphosa received from Bosasa for his African National Congress presidential campaign.

According to an article by The Sunday Independent a leaked report which was leaked to them, which had allegedly been submitted to Ramaphosa last week stated that he had not declared the donation and he was guilty of misleading Parliament.

The publication did not state is the report was legitimate or not but claimed the Public protector’s office refused to comment as the investigation was still ongoing and could put the matter in jeopardy.

According to the Public Protector Act the contents of any documentation or details of an investigation may not be disclosed unless the Public Protector states they may do so as the information is strictly confidential.
