The eThekwini municipality have completed repairs at the Mahatma Gandhi Road sewage treatment plant, but stench of sewage still lingers over Lavender Creek.
On Thursday Point Yacht Club manager Darryl Williams told eNCA that they had not seen any change as yet in the water quality.
Four pumps at the plant broke down last week Thursday, before the city would import pumps and spares which meant that about 750,000 litres of sewage flowed into the sea hourly and covering about 20% of the 28 kilometre harbour.
All fishing and diving operations were suspended on the Friday and many local businesses suffered financially due to the foul odour and risk of infectious diseases.
Reports were heard of the beaches being opened and people have been seen swimming despite the water still being very dirty.
