Verwoerds’ grandson will take a seat in Parliament with the VF-Plus

Hendrik Verwoerd’s grandson, Dr Wynand Johannes Boshoff will represent the Freedom Front Plus (VF-Plus) in Parliament.

Boshoff is the son of Orania founder Prof. Carel boshoff and the VF-Plus leader in the Northern Cape and according to News24 gained a seat in Parliament last week.

In the 2014 national elections the FF-Plus received 165 715 votes but after substantial national growth from 0.90% to 2.38% the party received 414 864 votes in this years election, making them the fifth largest party in Parliament with 10 seats.

Boshoff’s mother, Anna is the daughter of Hendrik Verwoerd and his brother, also Carel, the president of Orania.

Orania is a whites-only town in the Northern Cape where Boshoff lived on weekends since 1993, while he served as a councillor in the Sol Plaatje Municipality in Kimberley.

Hendrik Verwoerd was known as the ‘Architect of Apartheid” for the implementation of the apartheid policy during his time as prime minister of South Africa from 1958 to 1966.
