SABC debate between Ramaphosa and Maimane will not happen

The African National Congress (ANC) released a statement stating their refusal to engage in a debate between President Cyril Ramaphosa and the Democratic Alliance (DA) leader, Mmusi Maimane on SABC.

According to the Citizen, the SABC sent a formal invitation to the party leaders to hold a live debate on SABC 2 on April 28, should the president be able to make himself available.

Maimane said in an email response that he welcomed the initiative and looked forward to addressing important issues with Ramaphosa as it was about time solutions were found to improve economic growth and job creation.

The ANC said they refuse to be coaxed into a debate with the DA and strongly dispute what the SABC are attempting to achieve.
