Dros rapist to return to court on Friday

Nicholas Ninow, the Dros rapist is set to appear in court on Friday.

Ninow was arrested for allegedly raping a seven-year-old girl at a Dros restaurant in Pretoria.

During his court appearances it came to light that Ninow suffered mental health issues and had a childhood filled with substance abuse which lead to him spending 30 days at Weskoppies Mental Hospital in Gauteng to undergo psychiatric assessment.

Civil rights group Not In My Name SA will be attending the hearing tomorrow in the even that Ninow pleads ‘not guilty’ as they believe justice must be served.

The judge will first needs to ascertain if Ninow is fit to stand trial. It will need to be established if he can distinguish right from wrong and that he is mentally in the present.

Friday’s trial is not expected to be a linear process but everyone is waiting to hear if the defence rules him out as insane.
