CT nanny caught on camera abusing baby is out on R1 000 bail

A Cape Town nanny who was accused of abuse to a baby and theft is out on bail of R1 000.

Paseka Mthitshana was caught on camera hitting, shaking, strangling and dropping a 5-month-old baby on the floor.

The 46-year-old appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on allegations of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm as well as for the theft of Pampers, earphones, sunglasses and books.

Mthitshana, who resides in New Crossroads in Nyanga was arrested on December 12.

As the State has not yet viewed the footage which is said to have occurred on December 11, Magistrate Goolam Bawa extended Mthitshana’s bail and court will commence on March 20.
