Just four months ago, Cape Town dam levels were at a dangerously low 20%. In the past few weeks, there have been heavy downpours in the area that have significantly raised water levels. On Thursday, dam levels were confirmed to be at 65%.
In the past ten days alone, the water levels have risen 5%. The largest dam in the Western Cape, Theewaterskloof dam, saw its dam levels increase by 4% since last Monday. While Capetonians are still encouraged to monitor their water usage, the increasing water levels come as relieving news.
