There’s no doubt that WiFi is becoming much more easily accessible in South Africa. However, the Nelson Mandela Bay municipality wants to take this a step further. City manager Johann Mettler reportedly wants the municipality to become more technologically-savvy.
A plan has been proposed to install WiFi boxes throughout the entire municipality. This will allow residents to be constantly connected to WiFi, which Mettler says can be useful in the future to report municipality issues such as water leaks in a timely manner. Nelson Mandela Bay is currently looking for private companies that would assist with turning this large scale dream into reality.
