On Monday, the Constitutional Court released their decision that Abrahams’ appointment as head of the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) was invalid. As a result, President Cyril Ramaphosa has designated Dr. Silas Ramaite as the acting head of the NPA. Ramaphosa will need to find a permanent replacement for Abrahams within 90 days, as stipulated by the Constitutional Court.
In the meantime, Abrahams has reportedly packed up his office, although he will retain his position until the end of the week. Following his removal as head of the NPA, he will take some time off before deciding how to move forward in his professional life.
