Gupta brothers Atul and Ajay could face legal repercussions over alleged racial slurs made against black South Africans. Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba personally wrote a letter to Shaun Abrahams, the head of the National Prosecuting Authority, about the situation with a deadline of 60 days to reply. There has been no response, which is why Mashaba will be heading to the Equality Court instead.
Mashaba said, “I’m concerned with them being given the exit of the country without facing the consequences. I’m taking this matter to the Equality Court to ensure that Atul and his family explain to us, South Africans, and justify why he believes we’re lazy and corruptible.”
