Recent rainfall has slightly raised Cape Town dam levels, which now sit at 57%. However, level 6b water restrictions will remain active with residents allotted only 50 litres of water per day. The City of Cape Town currently uses 505 litres of water per day, while their goal is 450 litres.
In July, the national government informed the public that they would only consider lifting these severe water restrictions when dam levels reach 85%. When the rainy season is over, the dam levels will be reassessed .
