In South Africa, having your vehicle stolen is no rare occurrence. Over 20,000 vehicles are stolen from South Africa every year. Unfortunately, due to South Africa’s close proximity to other countries, most of these stolen cars are driven over the border.
Police Chief Bheki Cele reported his surprise at seeing stolen cars with South African plates being driven freely in Malawi and Mozambique. He will be taking a trip to Malawi to recover 300 stolen vehicles and says that he will visit Mozambique next to meet with authorities.
