The state-owned South African Airways has been in serious financial trouble for the past few years. The government is currently discussing the best way to help SAA, along with Mango and SA Express, which SAA owns.
Some of the recent oversight related to SAA has been sent from the Finance Ministry to Public Enterprises. The airline’s group structure is set to change, but some doubt if that can save the airline. SAA will continue to need billions in public funding in order to stay afloat.
