Several Eskom power stations in Cape Town, Gauteng and Mpumalanga are shut down due to protests by Eskom workers. Workers are damaging tools at the power stations due to poor pay. The main power stations affected are Matla in Mpumalanga, Koeberg in Cape Town and Arnot in Gauteng.
Eskom released a statement warning South Africans in these areas that they should expect load shedding this week. In their statement, they said, “Sadly, Eskom has experienced a few incidents of intimidation at some power stations this morning. The public order police have been called in to calm the situation down.”
