The past decade has not been kind to Eskom. They have suffered on all sides from poor strategy to political interference and financial mismanagement. Chairman Jabu Mabuza and CE Phakamani Hadebe, the new leaders of Eskom, have vowed to turn the power utility around.
The new leadership has only been in power for 69 days, but already corrupt senior executives have been fired, criminal cases have been opened and contracts have been reviewed. However, the company is still struggling to both sell electricity and cut down on its key costs.
Mabuza has promised to reveal a new business model in September, which will hopefully be able to save Eskom.
