Eskom and union members are in the process of coming to an agreement to increase wages and end the current strike. Unions are adamant about an 8% salary increase and Eskom has confirmed that during recent discussions, they agreed to increase salaries above their previous 7% offer.
While the meeting seemed to be productive and the union is in the process of speaking with their members, they have yet to sign a formal agreement. Sources say that the union’s request for housing allowances and bonuses are slowing down the deliberation process.
