FIFA 2018 soccer world cup opens with a victory for Russia.

The opening game of  the 2018 FIFA soccer world cup ended on a favorable note for Russia on Russian soil.

Russia defeated Saudi Arabia 5-0 in a stunning defeat that left the Russian home crowd stunned and in awe.

The first goal was scored in the 12th minute followed by a classy show of good sportsmanship between Russian president Vladimir Putin and Saudi Arabia’s King. The pair shook hands following a humble gesture from Putin.

A second goal was then scored in the first half but the second half saw two more goals and a final fifth goal in the last few minutes.

Russia is set to play Egypt next week and Saudi Arabia to battle it out with Uruguay. The Saudi team will no doubt seek to improve it’s game while Russia enjoys the boost of confidence.
